Sörling Valley (Antarktis)




Sörling Valley er ein isfri dal mellom Cumberland East Bay og Hound Bay på nordsida av Sør-Georgia. Ho vart kartlagd av South Georgia Survey i perioden 1951-57. Ho vart namngjeven av United Kingdom Antarctic Place-Names Committee (UK-APC) etter Erik Sörling på Riksmuseum i Stockholm, som henta zoologiske prøvar på Sør-Georgia i 1904-05.


Den 21. april 1982 under Falklandskrigen gjekk britiske SBS i land ved Hound Bay frå helikopter frå HMS «Endurance», og prøvde å krysse over til dei argentinske stillingane gjennom Sörling Valley[1] og Cumberland East Bay .
