Cowboyhatt av strå
Cowboyhatt er ein type hatt med brei brem og høg pull som særleg er knytt til Vesten i USA og den nordamerikanske cowboyen. I dag kan han brukast av fleire ulike menneske, som ranch-arbeidarar i vestlege og sørlege USA, vestlege Canada og nordlege Mexico, av rodeo-deltakarar og av countrymusikarar. Han er kjend over heile verda som eit symbol på Det ville vesten.
Den første hatten for bruk i Vesten var den såkalla Boss of the Plains, utforma av John B. Stetson.
Etter denne kom den såkalla Carlsbad-modellen med fold på toppen av pullen.[1]
Dei avleidde filthattane med høg pull og vid brem er blitt nært knytt til cowboyar og western-kultur.[2]
