The Allman Brothers Band sin «Mountain Jam» (frå Eat a Peach, 1972) er ein lang, improvisert jam basert på denne songen. Dei vart inspirert etter å ha høyrt Grateful Dead gjere det same. Ein kan høyre eit par taktar frå «There is a Mountain» i songen deira «Alligator» frå albumetAnthem of the Sun frå 1968.
Teksten referer til eit buddhist ordtak frå Qingyuan Weixin, seinare omsett av D.T. Suzuki i hans Essays in Zen Buddhism, ein av dei første bøkene som populariserte buddhisme i Europa og USA.
