Paul Vaughn Butterfield (17. desember 1942–4. mai 1987) var ein USA-amerikansk bluesmunnspelspelar og songar. Etter å ha spelt klassisk fløyte i ungdomen, utvikla han ei interesse for bluesmunnspel. Han utforska bluesmiljøet i heimbyen Chicago, der han møtte Muddy Waters og andre blueslegender, som oppfordra han og let han få spele med dei. Han byrja etter kort tid å spele fast med bluesentusiastane Nick Gravenites og Elvin Bishop.
I 1963 skipa han The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, som spelte inn fleire suksessrike album og vart populære på festivalane seint i 1960-åra, med konsertar i Fillmore West i San Francisco; Fillmore East i New York City; Monterey Pop Festival og Woodstockfestivalen. Bandet var kjend for å kombinere elektrisk Chicago blues med rock og for å vere pionerar innan jazzfusion. Etter at bandet vart oppløyst i 1971, fortsette Butterfield å turnere og spele med bandet Paul Butterfield's Better Days, med mentoren Muddy Waters og medlemmar av gruppa The Band. Butterfield var framleis aktiv som plate- og konsertartist då han i 1987, 44 år gammal, døydde av ein heroinoverdose.
Musikkskribentar har trekt fram utviklinga hans av ein original spelestil som plasserer han blant dei mest kjende bluesmunnspelspelarane. I 2006 vart han innlemma i Blues Hall of Fame. Butterfield og tidlege medlemmar av The Paul Butterfield Blues Band vart innlemma i Rock and Roll Hall of Fame i 2015. Begge panela trekte fram dugleiken hans på munnspel og bidraga hans til å bringe bluesmusikken ut til eit yngre og breiare publikum.
